Preventing Sexual Abuse by Integrating Research into Practice

Overview

Risk Tools

Over the past 20 years, Bob and his colleagues have developed risk assessment tools to help mental health, probation and parole, and child protection services professionals better assess, treat, and manage men who have committed sexual offenses. For more information about these tools, click on the blue links below.

SOTIPS

Sex Offender Treatment Intervention and Progress Scale

The SOTIPS is a 16-item dynamic risk instrument used to assess risk, treatment and supervision needs, and progress among adult male sex offenders. It should be used in combination with a static risk tool such as the VASOR-2 or the Static-99R. The SOTIPS Manual is available for use at no cost. For more information, Click Here.

VASOR-2

Vermont Assessment of Sex Offender Risk-2

The VASOR-2 is a static risk instrument used to assess risk among adult male sex offenders. It is composed of a 12-item Reoffense Risk Scale and a 4-item Severity Factors Checklist. Ideally, the VASOR-2 should be used in combination with the SOTIPS. The VASOR-2 Manual is available for use at no cost. For more information, Click Here.

ROSAC

Risk of Sexual Abuse
of Children

The ROSAC is a 30-item structured professional guide that is used to assess the risk an adult male sexual abuser poses to a particular child and under what circumstances, if any, the abuser might safely be allowed contact with the child.
